Cherry Blossom Bakeshop, now known as MOOSH, was created in early 2023. We rebranded in late 2024 to better reflect the spirit we wanted to bring to the community. Misato Kasumi is the owner, always ready to share her delicious baked goods and stories with the community.
Here’s her story:
My passion for baking began when my dad baked me birthday cakes every year, made with love and decorated with my favorite things–even my face! During my childhood, he baked all the time, and like any girl, I wanted to help him with everything he did. So, I would help him with the small things; getting the ingredients and reading the recipe. As I got older, these easy tasks my dad would give me turned into cracking the eggs, melting the butter, and cutting the cookies out. When COVID struck we got even closer spending more time baking together, turning it into an (almost) everyday activity as there was little else to do while being stuck at home all day. To this day, my dad and I still bake treats together, adding to the memories that inspire everything I do at MOOSH.
At the start of 2023, I became interested in selling baked goods to classmates and neighbors, which inspired me to start Cherry Blossom Bakeshop. I didn’t put much thought into how I would run this bakery. I jumped right in and it quickly became clear that managing it involved much more than that. With the few customers I had, I already had trouble with scheduling conflicts and managing orders. It was messy in the beginning but I’ve learned a lot and look forward to learning even more about running a small business.
Looking ahead, I am excited for MOOSH and its future. I am also looking forward to the new skills I gain and new people I meet. I look forward to overcoming challenges, growing this business, and helping others through our successes.
