Mission Statement:
The Missing Piece is a community outreach initiative of Moosh Bakery's Doughnation Project dedicated to bringing joy and community connection through the donation of homemade desserts. By connecting volunteer bakers with local organizations, we help ensure that children, families, and individuals facing barriers to celebration can experience life's special moments with a dessert made just for them.
We believe that everyone deserves to feel valued, recognized, and celebrated. Whether it's a birthday, graduation, holiday, or another meaningful milestone, no occasion should be missing the sweetest piece.
For Partner Organizations:
Your organization helps support the community and we help add the sweetest piece to their celebrations. Partner with The Missing Piece to provide homemade desserts for birthdays, holidays, and other special occasions for the individuals you serve.
How It Works
For Volunteer Bakers:
Whether you're an experienced baker or simply enjoy baking as a hobby, use your skills to make a meaningful difference in the community. Every dessert you create helps make someone's special moment even sweeter.
1. Join the Volunteer Network
Complete our quick interest form to join The Missing Piece volunteer network. Signing up doesn't commit you to bake every request. You decide when and how often you'd like to help add the sweetest piece to someone's celebration!
2. Choose a Baking Opportunity
You'll receive occasional email updates about The Missing Piece, including project news and new baking opportunities. When dessert requests become available, we will send you a link where you can browse the requests and sign up for the ones that you want to bake and fit your schedule.
3. Bake with Love
Once you've signed up for a request, use the provided details to prepare a homemade dessert that matches the celebration. Be sure to follow any dietary restrictions, allergy information, serving size, and other special requests when possible.
4. Deliver the Missing Piece
Deliver your dessert on the date listed in the request description, following the provided pickup or delivery instructions. As the celebration approaches, we'll send a check in email to make sure everything is going smoothly and answer any questions you might have. We'll also provide any additional details or updates regarding pickup, delivery, or the recipient's organization so you feel prepared every step of the way!

1. Become a Partner
Complete our partner interest form to join The Missing Piece partner network. This allows us to get to know more about your organization, the individuals you serve, and how we can support your celebrations. After reviewing your information, we'll reach out with more details about partnering together and how your organization can submit dessert requests for special occasions.
2. Submit a Dessert Request
Once you become a partner, you'll be able to submit dessert requests for birthdays, holidays, milestones, and other special occasions. Provide details about the celebration in the Dessert Request Form (including the occasion, preferred dessert, serving size, dietary needs, and any other important information) to help us match your request with a volunteer baker.
3. Celebrate Together
After your request is submitted, we'll share the opportunity with our volunteer bakers' network and connect your celebration with a baker who is available to help. We'll stay in touch with both your organization and the volunteer baker to coordinate the details and make sure everything is ready for the celebration.
How It Works
Please Note
Volunteers are responsible for safely preparing, packaging, and delivering any dessert they choose to provide.
Desserts should be prepared using safe food handling practices in a clean home kitchen with fresh ingredients.
Volunteers must accurately communicate ingredients, potential allergens, and any dietary accommodations associated with their dessert.
Only accept dessert requests that fit your schedule, baking abilities, and comfort level. If you can no longer fulfill a request, please notify The Missing Piece as soon as possible.
Volunteers are expected to follow all delivery instructions and communicate promptly if any issues or delays arise.
By volunteering, you agree to review the Volunteer Baker Handbook and complete the Volunteer Baker Waiver of Liability Agreement before participating in any baking opportunities.
The Missing Piece coordinates volunteer opportunities but does not prepare, inspect, or supervise desserts made by individual volunteers.
Please Note:
Please submit dessert requests as far in advance as possible. Earlier requests are more likely to be matched with a volunteer baker.
Submitting a dessert request does not guarantee fulfillment. Requests are matched based on volunteer availability, timing, and the details of each request.
Organizations are responsible for providing accurate information about the celebration, including allergies, dietary restrictions, serving size, and delivery details.
Desserts are prepared by volunteer bakers in home kitchens. While volunteers are expected to follow safe food handling practices, The Missing Piece and Moosh Bakery cannot guarantee an allergen-free environment or prevent cross-contamination.
Desserts will be delivered to your organization's designated location or approved drop-off site. Delivery windows will be confirmed once a volunteer baker accepts your request.
The Missing Piece coordinates volunteer bakers but does not prepare, inspect, supervise, or transport the desserts provided by individual volunteers.
If there are any changes to your event or delivery information after submitting your request, please notify The Missing Piece as soon as possible so we can communicate the updates to your volunteer baker.
